At the beginning of the semester, I was okay at finding sources to use in my writing, but I hadn’t had too much exposure to it like this in the past. In our first paper of the course, we only had to use one set of sources, one arguing the importance of the arts, and a source of our choice to help back it up. I wrote about the importance of music in art and in life, and this is where I integrated these two sources. In the final prompt we were assigned, we were required to write about beauty and use 4 different sources: a reading annotated by us first, 2 choice podcasts from classmates, and a carefully selected outside source to go along with the gist of our papers. At first, I’ll admit that I was nervous to find my own outside source. After a little extra research on the information I needed for the paper, I stumbled upon the perfect article about the psychology behind beauty, and how the body reacts to the sight of something beautiful. This ended up working perfectly, and I’m happy to have found a source that worked so well. This proved to me that after the hard work of this semester in using sources and integration, it has payed off for me. I can now look for outside evidence more confidently than before.
